What is Life?

lifeDoes life have a meaning? If we were created by a powerful God, would that give our lives meaning? Or is the question, ‘what is the meaning (purpose) of life?’ That’s a factual tough one. But what one thinks that the meaning of life is the principles and epitome we enact upon it, what we claim it.

The problem is not in your work the problem is not in your life. The problem is not in the world that you live in. The problem is just that you have not done the necessary things for this one to flow through this effortlessly, beautifully the necessary work has not been done and we are just hoping it will happen by accident, but it doesn’t happen by accident.

Here’s the story depicting the quote of Life —

Once upon a time in an early 20th century. In an Orthodox Greek church a bishop used to serve in that church, you know after all Greeks have their own separate church. They have their own pope who guides them through the path when asked for.

So the bishop from this ordered journey had heard so much about Indian mysticism, and he wanted to go to India so that he can understand the horizon of mystic gurus in India. But he never got around to make it because he had to serve the church clock that he wore and after 62 years of age of serving for a community, when he got semi-retired finally getting the opportunity and visited India for all his answers towards Life and mysticism.

So he came to South India in some ancient place where the mystic gurus are and he wanted to meet a mystic yogi. So one day he decided to finally explore, he asks the man in the village where I will find a mystic yogi who can answer me. The man’s hand go up this mountain and says there is a huge cave, so you may see the yogi sitting there and you can go. So our Bishop went Plotted up the mountain halfway up and realized he has come very far for his answers. Went in front of a cave looks at the cave and realizes it’s in terrible condition, still goes inside the cave and finds this old man (Yogi). This Old man with a gentle smile on his face was just sitting with his eyes closed, so the Bishop went and prostrated though he cannot do it he is not made for that but they had told him if you go to India you have to crawl, so he prostrated like this and with all his four limbs. The Yogi was fully awakened by his acts and looked at him with amusement. Obviously, the bishop has never prostrated anywhere before and He smiled. Then the bishop said I am like this. I’m a bishop. I have served in the church for so long. ‘But I have a few questions. Can you answer?’

The Yogi smiled and said yes, please, whatever the question. Then the Bishop asked “what is life?” at the age of 62, the bishop asked what is life? So the yogi closed his eyes became very blissful and sad; Life is like the Fragrance of a nature on the spring breeze and Tears of blissfulness flowed out of his eyes as he was saying this. Then the Bishop said No… No… No… Our pope has told us life is like a thorn and we must renounce it, and even symbolically, [jesus] himself wore a crown of thorns. So how come you say this our Pope says otherwise?

The Yogi looked at him smiled and said well, that’s his life. So, what’d you make out of it is not because of where you are what you are it is just what you make out of it, isn’t it?

So have you created the necessary mechanisms?

Have you created the necessary system?

Have you created the necessary ingredients?

Within you to make this Life the Fragrance of nature on a spring breeze and may be not at all. If it’s a time, we must pluck the damn thing out, isn’t it… isn’t it?

  2. First of all congratulations for creating your own web space. I totally loved the first post. Life indeed is what you make out of it and is a reflection of your own perception. We create a world of our own, the way we want, which is reflection of our own inner being. Beyond the question of what is life, lies the insatiable hunger of knowing what is the purpose of life. To transcend and experience the higher dimensions of life, taking it further to reach a higher pedestal from previous life and carrying the journey further or just wasting it crying and mulling over the miseries of life? Burn yourself in the desire to ascend and create a world which is an extension of your own beautiful being. Aham Brahmasmi.
